Here’s some guidance to help you adapt and deliver this task in a way that works best for your class.
Be part of a unique experience exploring Celtic rainforests, wildlife, and conservation in Eryri.
Following the success of COPA1, the first conference of its kind for young people in Eryri, we are excited to invite applications for COPA2. Taking place on 3–4 December 2026, this two-day residential conference includes an overnight stay at Plas Dol y Moch in Maentwrog.
This year, COPA2 will focus on the importance of our Celtic Rainforests, highlighting their role in supporting biodiversity, tackling climate change and preserving unique habitats. The conference will also touch upon the significance of Eryri’s Dark Sky Reserve, and the importance of protecting these special areas of conservation.

Who can take part?
The conference is open to Year 7 and 8 pupils, who will be in Years 8 or 9 by December 2026. Schools can submit multiple applications, but places are limited, with priority given to schools within the National Park and surrounding areas. The event is free for pupils and teachers, with support available to cover supply costs.
The task
We’re asking you to explore a local green space and carry out a simple survey to learn more about it and the wildlife it supports. This could be a woodland, park, hedgerow, cemetery, or even a single tree.
You will look closely at your chosen space, make observations, and record what you discover about plants, trees, animals, and signs of wildlife. You’ll also think about how the space is used, how it makes you feel, and whether there are any signs of human impact.
Finally, you will present your findings in a creative format of your choice, such as a poster, video, map, model, or presentation.
Schools are encouraged to apply and staff from the National Park Authority and partner organisations are available to visit schools to support applications and provide further information and assistance.
For all the information about the task, please read the COPA2 brief.
